The short answer

Useful EOR demo questions follow the employee lifecycle and test the handoff between the provider and client. Walk through a new starter, a payroll correction, an employee request, a change and an exit. Ask who owns each step, which information is needed and what the employee sees when something goes wrong.

1. Start with a clear purpose

Walk through a new hire from offer to first pay. Ask who prepares each item and how the employee gets help.

2. Make the work and ownership visible

Ask to see the support route for an urgent issue. Confirm coverage hours, response expectations and who can approve a change.

3. Agree the next action

Request a clear explanation of offboarding and data export. Keep country-specific answers attached to the quote.

Leave with a usable decision.

Write down the next action, who owns it and when you will check the result. Keep the decision where the people doing the work can find it.

A practical example

The buying team asks the provider to demonstrate a late change to an employee record before payroll. The provider shows the normal workflow, then explains the cutoff and exception route. The team records who can approve the change, how the employee is informed and which cost assumptions apply. Unanswered questions remain open requirements rather than disappearing into general demo notes.

A working template you can adapt

Part of the workWhat to record or ask
New starterHow do we confirm the employing entity, documentation and readiness?
Payroll exceptionWho resolves a late or incorrect input and communicates the result?
Employee supportWhere does the employee ask a question and track progress?
Exit or transferWhat approvals, timing, records and charges must be considered?

Questions to work through

Who should attend an EOR demonstration?

Include the people who will own HR operations, payroll funding and employee support. Bring relevant local or specialist advisers into the questions they need to assess. One buyer cannot always test every service handoff.

How should we score the demonstration?

Score against the requirements in the brief, with evidence for each result and a separate list of unresolved questions. Do not award a strong score to a feature that was mentioned but not shown or explained for the proposed arrangement.

Connect this with the next decision

Keep moving.
