On a small screen, scroll the table to compare every column.
These are documentation-based comparisons. Ask each provider for a proposal covering your workforce and responsibilities.
Look beyond the list of services
Justworks offers PEO services covering payroll, benefits and HR support, and describes round-the-clock human support. Clarify which support routes apply to your selected arrangement.
Why consider it
A conversation about a combined service and technology setup.
What to check
Who handles routine questions, specialist issues and escalation?
ADP TotalSource combines PEO services with HR, payroll and benefits administration. Its service description includes an HR business partner. Ask how that relationship works for your team.
Why consider it
A named service model to examine alongside administrative capabilities.
What to check
What is handled by your assigned partner and what goes to another team?
Insperity presents options combining HR technology with consultative support or full-service PEO arrangements. Compare the division of work in the options relevant to your business.
Why consider it
A chance to compare levels of operational support within one provider.
What to check
Which responsibilities remain with your team, and how is delivery measured?
Write the service brief before requesting quotes
List the work you need help with
Include the routine tasks, the peaks in workload and the situations that require specialist support.
Agree the division of responsibility
For every task, name the provider’s role, your role and who checks that it is complete.
Ask about service quality
Discuss response routes, escalation, reporting and how issues are resolved. Put the agreed expectations in writing.
Compare proposals on the same basis
Request a breakdown of the service fee, setup work, benefits-related costs and any charges outside the standard arrangement. Keep the workforce assumptions consistent across quotes.
Ask how renewal and exit work. Your comparison should include the effort required to move data, hand over responsibilities and maintain continuity.
Service questions
When is software enough?
If your team has the capacity and knowledge to operate the process, an HR software comparison may be the right starting point. Use service proposals to clarify what additional work a partner would take on.
What should a provider demo include?
Ask to see how a request is raised, who receives it and how you track progress. A product tour alone will not show the full service experience.
